Camilla Lockart in The Lion King

Hauppauge School District is proud to celebrate an extraordinary accomplishment by Pines Elementary School fifth grader Camilla Lockhart, who is making her Broadway debut as Young Nala in Disney’s Tony Award-winning musical The Lion King at the Minskoff Theatre.

Beginning August 18th, Camilla stepped into the role of Young Nala. Her Broadway debut marks an exciting milestone in the career of the talented young performer, who has already established herself in modeling, acting, singing, and dance.

Camilla began modeling and acting at just seven months old. At age seven, she discovered a passion for singing and began vocal training with Nattalyee Randall. She is also a dedicated dancer and lifelong Broadway enthusiast who has dreamed of performing on a Broadway stage. Her credits include Apple TV’s Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed and the short film Shallow End.

Camilla is known for her infectious smile, vibrant energy, kindness, and natural stage presence. Her love of performing and confidence in front of the camera have allowed her to shine across a variety of artistic platforms, and her Broadway debut represents the realization of a dream she has worked toward from a very young age.

As a student at Pines Elementary School, Camilla continues to balance the demands of fifth grade with her professional performing career. Her accomplishment is a tremendous source of pride for her teachers, classmates, and the entire Hauppauge community. The Hauppauge School District is thrilled to celebrate Camilla’s success and wishes her continued success as she takes the stage as Young Nala.

The Lion King has been a Broadway favorite since its premiere on November 13, 1997, and is approaching three decades on Broadway. The musical has been seen by more than 130 million people through 30 global productions and currently has eight productions performing around the world.

For Camilla, stepping onto the Broadway stage as Young Nala is the beginning of an exciting new chapter- and one her hometown community will be proudly following every step of the way.
