On Friday, April 17, Pines fifth grade students celebrated a beloved spring tradition—Baseball Day! The event helps kick off both the MLB season and the Hauppauge Little League season.
Students from all fifth grade classes came dressed and ready to play, sporting their best baseball attire—from Mets and Yankees gear to Hauppauge teams. Throughout the morning, students rotated through stations featuring baseball-themed reading, writing, and math activities, while also learning about the history of the game and its rules.
In the afternoon, each class took to the Upper Field for games of baseball. Students demonstrated teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship, with teachers joining in by pitching each inning and cheering them on.
After working up an appetite, students headed to the playground where parent volunteers provided a variety of treats. From hot dogs on the grill to Auntie Anne’s pretzels, Cracker Jack, and Double Bubble, everyone enjoyed the festive atmosphere and beautiful weather.
Pines Baseball Day 2026 was a great success, and fifth graders are looking forward to more fun events as they wrap up their time at Pines this spring.
