Members of the Hauppauge High School Math Honor Society recently visited Pines Elementary School to collaborate with fourth- and fifth-grade students in the Math Enrichment program. The visit, coordinated with Math Enrichment teachers Tamara West and Tracy Zamek, created a fun and engaging opportunity for younger learners to explore mathematics alongside high school mentors.
Together, students played the “Game of Greed,” a strategy-based activity that encourages problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. The experience allowed elementary students to strengthen their math skills while building confidence, and it gave high school students the chance to model leadership and share their enthusiasm for learning.
