It takes a special kind of student to run for elected office, and Pines Elementary was fortunate to have several students step up this year to run for Student Council positions.
Under the guidance of club advisors Mrs. Tracey DeRose and Ms. Samantha Scarito, students were at the heart of the election process from start to finish. They created colorful campaign posters, supported one another throughout the process, and even helped hang posters for candidates who were absent. One of the proudest moments was seeing candidates work together, listen to each other’s speeches, and encourage one another—a truly inspiring display of teamwork and sportsmanship.
At the November 5 Pep Rally, each candidate delivered a thoughtful speech outlining their hopes and promises to third, fourth, and fifth graders. Many Pines families attended to cheer on the candidates.
The newly elected officers were announced on Friday afternoon: Violet Radonis, President; Addison Modrov, Vice President; Killian Valentine, Secretary; and John Muilenburg, Treasurer.
We are so proud of all the students who made this election process come alive at Pines Elementary!
