Ms. DeMaria’s 4th grade students at The Pines have been hands-on scientists, exploring the relationship between parts and function while learning about energy conversions. With minimal direction, students engineered their own simple systems, experimenting with ways to make their fan models run faster, slower, or even change direction.
Through this engaging activity, students explored the engineering design process, deepened their understanding of how systems work, and learned about energy sources, inputs, and outputs—all while thinking like real engineers!
