Pines Elementary Fire Safety

On September 15, the Hauppauge Fire Department visited Pines Elementary to teach students important fire safety tips.

Students learned how to create a fire escape plan, what to do if their clothes caught on fire, and how to stay safe in a smoke-filled room. The firefighters also explained why it’s important to call 9-1-1 and never go back into a burning building.

A highlight of the visit was when a firefighter put on his full uniform, showing students what they look and sound like in action. Students asked questions, explored the gear up close, and got a hands-on look at the tools firefighters use every day.

The visit ended on a fun note when Sparky, the fire department’s mascot dog, joined the group, adding smiles and excitement to an already memorable day.

It was an educational and engaging visit that gave Pines students important skills to stay safe in an emergency.
