Pines Elementary hosted its first annual “Fifty Nifty” presentation, highlighting the incredible work of its second grade students. As part of their research unit in writing, each student selected one of the 50 U.S. states to study. Over the course of several weeks, students used their research skills to gather facts about their state’s geography, symbols, landmarks, traditions and more.
Students then used their creativity and writing skills to design vibrant poster boards, displaying everything they had learned. Families were invited to attend the event and had the opportunity to walk through the displays, ask questions and listen as students confidently presented fun facts and key information about their chosen states.
The event concluded with a lively performance of the beloved, “Fifty Nifty United States” song, leaving families and students smiling and singing along. The pride and enthusiasm shown by our young researchers made the event a memorable celebration of learning. We are so proud of their hard work, and we look forward to continuing this new tradition for years to come!
