Welcome to the Hauppauge Middle School community! Whether your child is joining us as a new 6th grader or transferring to HMS in 7th or 8th grade, we are excited to welcome your family.
Our orientation opportunities will give students a chance to:
Meet members of our administration and guidance teams
Learn about academics, clubs, intramurals, and other opportunities at HMS
Tour the building and locate their classrooms
Practice opening their lockers
Ask questions and feel prepared for the first day of school
Grade 6 SEPTA Orientation: For students with IEPs and their parents/guardians
Thursday, August 27 | 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the auditorium
HMS administration, PPS, guidance counselors, and SEPTA will host an orientation in the Middle School Auditorium. Families will learn about available supports, review schedules, tour the building, and practice opening lockers.
All Grade 6 Students
Friday, August 28 | 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the auditorium
Students should be dropped off and picked up at the back of the building using the Lincoln Boulevard entrance.
Grade 6 Parent/Guardian Welcome
Friday, August 28 | 10:00 to 10:30 AM in the auditorium
While students tour the building, parents and guardians are invited to join the administration for a brief welcome session in the Middle School Auditorium. Parents/guardians may enter the building at 9:50 AM.
Following the orientation, parents/guardians may walk through the building or help their child organize their locker from 10:30 to 11:00 AM.
Optional Building Visit
Monday, August 31 | 1:45 to 2:45 PM
Students may visit HMS to walk through their schedule or set up their locker. Parents/guardians are welcome to join.
Locker note: Please do not add contact paper or stickers to lockers. Magnetic accessories work well for organizing the inside of the locker.
New Student Orientation for Grades 7 & 8: For newly enrolled Grade 7 and Grade 8 students
