On Monday, March 30, members of the middle school Newspaper Club took an exciting field trip to Stony Brook University, where they met with the staff of the university’s student-run newspaper, The Statesman.
During the visit, editors shared insight into how the publication operates, explaining that the paper is entirely run by students and that leadership roles are filled through elections. Hauppauge students had the opportunity to interview staff members, learn about the day-to-day work of producing a college newspaper, and hear firsthand about the student experience at the university.
