Kindertransport clothespin project

As part of Holocaust Remembrance, sixth-grade students at Hauppauge Middle School participated in lessons exploring the events of the Holocaust and the courageous individuals who helped others survive.

A central component of their learning was the Kindertransport clothespin project. Students decorated clothespins with symbols of hope and remembrance, representing children who were rescued from Nazi persecution through the Kindertransport rescue network. Between 1938 and 1940, the Kindertransport saved nearly 10,000 children by safely transporting them from Nazi Germany to England.

Through this hands-on project, students gained a deeper understanding of the resilience of survivors and the selfless acts of those who risked everything to save lives, keeping the memory of these heroic efforts alive for future generations.
