PS I Love You Day

Hauppauge schools came together on Friday February 13th to celebrate P.S. I Love You Day, embracing this year’s theme, Be the Light. Across the district, students and staff wore purple and filled classrooms and hallways with messages of kindness, connection, and support, reinforcing the importance of caring for one another and promoting mental health awareness.

At the high school, students had the special opportunity to hear directly from P.S. I Love You Day co-founder Brooke DiPalma. During her visit, she shared the history of the organization, its mission to end the stigma surrounding mental health, and how a movement that began on Long Island has grown significantly and is now officially recognized by New York State. Her message encouraged students to look out for one another and reminded them that small acts of compassion can have a lasting impact.

An added highlight of the day came when DiPalma announced that senior Hannah Harten has been named a 2026 P.S. I Love You Day Scholarship recipient! The scholarship honors students who exemplify the organization’s mission through leadership, empathy, and a commitment to spreading kindness within their school community.

Hauppauge proudly congratulates Hannah on this well-deserved recognition. Her actions reflect the spirit of P.S. I Love You Day and serve as a meaningful reminder that everyone has the power to be a light for others.
