Elementary Hackathon

Elementary students from Bretton Woods, Forest Brook, and Pines Elementary Schools recently put their coding skills to the test as they competed for a coveted spot on the Upper Elementary Hackathon Team. Guided by teachers Mrs. Bullaro, Mrs. Fair, and Mrs. Pecoraro, nineteen enthusiastic students demonstrated impressive talent, creativity, and dedication throughout the tryouts.

The competition was held in the Middle School coding room and featured a series of challenging events designed and judged by members of last year’s Middle School Hackathon team, under the guidance of Mr. Ferrara and Mrs. Thompson. Students were challenged to apply their skills using coding platforms such as Hatch! and Sprite Editor—programs first introduced in third-grade STEAM classes by Mrs. Bullaro and Mrs. Pecoraro.

The tryouts followed a Skills Dash held last month, where students earned the opportunity to compete in this event. Results from the challenges will help determine the final team, which will include eight students and one alternate.

Congratulations to all students who participated in this exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience!
