Girls Swim State Champs

The Hauppauge/Smithtown Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team made history this weekend, capturing its second consecutive New York State Team Championship—and its third title in the last four years—at Webster High School in Rochester.

The momentum began early with the 200-yard Medley Relay, which clinched its fourth straight State Championship, set a new Suffolk County record, and recorded an Automatic All-American time of 1:43.43, currently the 18th-fastest time in the nation.

Eighth grader Sylvia Bonn continued to shine individually, placing 30th in the 100-yard Freestyle, demonstrating the strength of the program’s rising talent.

The 200-yard Freestyle Relay delivered another standout performance. The relay—featuring Hauppauge’s Avery Wilcox—earned its second consecutive State Championship, breaking its own Suffolk County record with an Automatic All-American time of 1:34.72, the 13th-fastest time in the United States this season. Bonn also contributed a strong preliminary lead-off leg that helped secure a spot in the A Final.

Additional notable swims included Avery Wilcox, who placed 30th in the 500-yard Freestyle, adding another solid showing to the team’s tally.

The meet concluded with the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, featuring 7th grader Mia Barbero, Avery Wilcox, and Sylvia Bonn, placing 7th finish with a time of 3:36.76.

With this championship, Hauppauge-Smithtown’s dominance reaches new heights. The program has now completed five straight undefeated seasons, amassed 43 consecutive dual-meet victories, and secured six League Championships, five County Championships, and back-to-back State Championships.

Congratulations to the entire team on another extraordinary championship season!
