High school and middle school teachers stepped up to the October “Teaching with Tech” Challenge focused on a key skill for the classroom: Student Collaboration. The Digital Learning Department tasked teachers to use a digital tool to facilitate student collaboration in at least two separate lessons or activities during the month of October. Teachers used tools such as Canva, Google Docs, Google Slides, and Padlet to complete this challenge. Once they implemented their lessons, teachers were asked to reflect on the process. Teachers were pleasantly surprised by student engagement and their willingness to comment on each other's responses, even with adjustments to shared document responsibility. Teachers were also surprised by how much time was saved in lessons through collaborative work on shared documents and found the overall process surprisingly easy and seamless to include in their daily curriculum.
For completing this month’s challenge, teachers were awarded a token made by our High School Librarian, Jen Shapiro, to show off their accomplishments!
