Each October, schools across the country recognize Unity Day, a day dedicated to standing together against bullying and promoting kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. By wearing orange, the official color of Unity Day, students and staff show that they are united for a positive and supportive school community.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Hauppauge Middle School proudly joined in the nationwide celebration. The halls were filled with a sea of orange as students and staff came together to show their commitment to treating others with respect and compassion.
In preparation for the day, students participated in an advisory activity where each was given an orange paper hand and invited to complete the prompt: “HMS shows kindness and unity by…” The completed hands—each featuring a student’s word or phrase—were then displayed throughout the school as a powerful symbol of unity and connection.
