Eighth graders take a bite out of linear regression with licorice

Students in Mrs. DeMaio's eighth grade Algebra classes at Hauppauge Middle School had a tasty lesson in linear regression this week! Using pieces of licorice, students measured how the length changed with each bite to generate their own data. They recorded measurements, analyzed trends and explored how their results connected to key concepts like slope and y-intercept. Who knew math could be so delicious?
