On June 5, 2026, the Hauppauge Hackin' Eagles, Hauppauge High School's hackathon team, competed in the Code Conquest High School Division Hackathon. Hosted by Bethpage High School, the event brought together 19 teams from across Long Island for a unique competition that combined coding, strategy, and history.
Participants earned points by solving programming challenges using Python, HTML, Go, and other coding languages. This year's Hackathon Map, themed "Ming Dynasty: Mandate of Heaven," required competitors to research the Ming Dynasty and demonstrate their knowledge by creating coding projects that met specific standards provided on the day of the competition.
During the three-hour event, teams created more than 497 programs while competing to gain control of the map's 25 territories. It was a closely contested competition, and the Hauppauge Hackin' Eagles finished with 9 points, securing first place overall.
The team was coached by Frank Hufnagel and led by captain Samvath Karanam. Team members included Akhil Grandhi, Ziqi Jin, Andrew Solomon, Pranav Vijayababu, Nathan Fernandes, Sahmuel Babyak, and Steven Tola.
In recognition of their achievement, the Hauppauge Hackin' Eagles were awarded a championship trophy, which will be displayed at Hauppauge High School until next year's event. As defending champions, the team will have the opportunity to defend its title when Code Conquest 2027 is hosted at Hauppauge High School.
