Hauppauge High School is proud to celebrate students Jacob Solomon and Ava Importuna for earning nominations for the prestigious Roger Rees Awards in recognition of their exceptional performances in this year’s spring musical, Something Rotten! Jacob was nominated for his portrayal of Nick Bottom, while Ava received recognition for her performance as Nostradamus.
The Roger Rees Awards honor outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre across the region, and Jacob and Ava were selected to represent Hauppauge at the competition in New York City. There, they performed before a panel of judges alongside some of the top high school theatre students in New York State.
In an exciting accomplishment, Jacob advanced to the next stage of the competition, becoming one of only 50 students selected to participate in the Roger Rees Showcase held on Sunday, May 17, in New York City. During the showcase, finalists once again performed for judges for the opportunity to move on to the nationally recognized Jimmy Awards.
Hauppauge High School is thrilled to share that Jacob was ultimately selected to represent New York State at the Jimmy Awards, where he will compete alongside top student performers from across the country on the national stage.
These achievements are an incredible honor for both students and reflect the talent, dedication, and hard work present within Hauppauge High School’s theatre program. Congratulations to Jacob and Ava on this outstanding recognition and accomplishment!
