Congratulations to Katherine Marietta, the Class of 2026 Salutatorian, on being named a 2026 National Merit $2500 Scholarship winner by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Katherine was selected from a highly competitive pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists nationwide in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners represent some of the highest-achieving students in the country and are chosen based on their exceptional combination of academic accomplishments, leadership, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Recipients are evaluated by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors who review academic records, PSAT/NMSQT® scores, school and community involvement, essays, and recommendations from high school officials.
The National Merit Scholarship competition began in October 2024 when students across the country took the PSAT/NMSQT as high school juniors. From that group, fewer than one percent of graduating seniors advanced to the Semifinalist stage, with more than 15,000 students ultimately reaching Finalist standing nationwide.
Katherine’s recognition as a National Merit Scholarship winner is a reflection of her outstanding academic achievement, dedication, and commitment both inside and outside the classroom. As this year’s salutatorian, she continues to exemplify excellence and leadership within our school community. We are incredibly proud of Katherine and look forward to all she will accomplish in the future.
