The Hauppauge School District proudly congratulates Hauppauge High School senior Matias Kalaitzis on being named a recipient of the 2026 Student Champion for Sustainability Scholarship Award during an awards ceremony held on Thursday, May 14, at the Heritage Club at Bethpage Golf Club.

As president of the Hauppauge for Humanity Club, Matias has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainability and community service. Through his leadership, the club has helped support local families by distributing food through the district’s food pantry while also utilizing the FlexFarm—an innovative in-house greenhouse system—to grow fresh vegetables for members of the community.

Matias’ dedication to helping others and promoting sustainable practices reflects the values of leadership, compassion, and service that make the Hauppauge community proud.
