Spring 2026 marked the inaugural season of the Hauppauge High School E-Sports Team. The team arose out of the gaming club started by former High School English Teacher Brett Groneman. The team competed this season in the game Rocket League, which is essentially a 3-V-3 Soccer played with suped-up cars in 3D arenas. The game requires teamwork, effective communication, and lightning fast reflexes.
This year’s team was captained by Camryn Jackson-Allen. Carter Jackson-Allen, Philip Lazzaro, Michael Malik and Alvaro Paredes. Following the groundwork laid by former High School English Teacher Brett Groneman with the original gaming club, the E-Sports team is now under the expert guidance of new Head Coach Mr. Sidwell and Assistant Coach Mr. Gillen. Their leadership has clearly propelled the team to success! The students had an impressive match record for their first season of 5 - 3 and landed in the top half of the teams in our region. Captain Camryn Jackson-Allen came in 5th place in the league in points scored per game. The future is bright for Hauppauge E-Sports! The advisors thank the assistance of Mrs. Shapiro, Library and Media Specialist and the generous support of the Hauppauge School District with the launch of the E-Sports program.
The casual gaming club is still going strong Thursdays after school in the HS Library. New students are always encouraged and welcome! The club offers gaming opportunities on cutting edge Gaming PCs, Nintendo Switch and Playstation 5. Next year, they hope to improve upon their success in Rocket League and add Super Smash Brothers to the competition roster!
