Katherine DiTuro, Rowan Ashby, and Ella Murphy, members of the Varsity Girls Track & Field Team, recently qualified for and competed in the 5K racewalk at the prestigious Penn Relays.
The Penn Relays, held annually since 1895, is one of the most renowned track and field meets in the country, featuring top high school, collegiate, and professional athletes from around the world. Athletes must meet strict qualifying standards to earn entry into the competition.
Katherine delivered an outstanding performance, finishing in 4th place in a race won by an athlete from Ireland. She also currently holds the fastest 1500-meter time in New York State. Rowan Ashby and Ella Murphy are both ranked among the top racewalkers in Suffolk County.
All three athletes achieved personal records during the competition, marking a memorable and successful day for Hauppauge Track & Field. Congratulations to Katherine, Rowan, and Ella on their incredible accomplishments.
