Band Clinic

On Tuesday, March 17, the Bayport-Bluepoint Wind Ensemble visited Hauppauge High School for a 90-minute joint clinic with the Hauppauge High School Wind Ensemble.

The collaboration came together as both ensembles are currently preparing the same challenging works—A Festival Prelude by Alfred Reed and Abrams Pursuit by David Holsinger. Recognizing the unique opportunity, Bayport-Bluepoint director Michael Sarling and Hauppauge’s director partnered to bring the two groups together while the pieces are still in their early stages.

During the session, students had the chance to rehearse alongside peers from a neighboring district, gaining valuable musical insight and enjoying the experience of learning under the guidance of a guest conductor.

As the ensembles continue to refine their performances this spring, they look forward to sharing recordings of their final pieces—offering students a meaningful way to reflect on their growth and celebrate the results of this collaborative experience.
