Hauppauge High School English teacher Brian Gillen was recently recognized as an Irish American of Distinction for District 12 at the Irish American Heritage Celebration on March 24, 2026. This honor highlights individuals who have made meaningful contributions to their community and exemplify pride in their Irish heritage.
Mr. Gillen was nominated by former student Thomas Andrews, a member of the Class of 2018, who now serves as an aide in Suffolk County Legislator Leslie Kennedy’s office. The recognition reflects not only Mr. Gillen’s impact as an educator, but also the lasting connections he has built with his students.
