Twenty-three Hauppauge High School band students participated this past weekend in the 67th Annual Mid Island Band Festival, hosted at Port Jefferson High School. Each student was nominated to perform alongside musicians from the West Islip, Sayville, Patchogue-Medford, Miller Place and Port Jefferson school districts.
The festival brought together a 110-member ensemble, which rehearsed challenging band repertoire throughout Friday evening and Saturday morning under the direction of this year’s guest conductor, Mrs. Patricia Isenberg. The experience provided students with the opportunity to collaborate with peers from neighboring districts while refining their musicianship in a high-level performance setting.
The weekend concluded with a Saturday evening concert at Port Jefferson High School, where the ensemble performed for an enthusiastic audience of family members and friends.
