Eagle Watch at Newsday

Students from Mr. Schaeffler’s Broadcasting classes were selected to pilot an exciting new program in partnership with Newsday. As part of the experience, students visited Newsday’s headquarters for a behind-the-scenes look at a professional newsroom, including a tour of Newsday Studio 1.

During the visit, students gained firsthand insight into reporting, editing, and digital media, and had the opportunity to hear directly from Newsday professionals about careers in broadcasting and journalism. The experience bridged classroom instruction with real-world media production, as Hauppauge students were challenged to create and present an original news package for professional critique.

The Hauppauge Broadcasting program continues to provide hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for future careers in media and communications, offering experiences that connect academic skills to real-world industry standards.
