First-year IB Film students Julia Cristiano and Tatyana Sumarev earned special recognition when their film was selected for the BASH (Broadcast Alliance for Senior High) Holiday Film Festival. This regional showcase celebrates creativity and excellence in student filmmaking by highlighting outstanding films from high schools across the area.
As part of the festival challenge, students were given just two weeks to write, film, and produce a three-minute holiday-themed movie. Each entry was required to include a specific line of dialogue—“A million dollars isn’t cool. You know what is cool?”—as well as a prop featuring a pair of reading glasses and the use of a low-angle camera shot.
Julia and Tatyana rose to the challenge, skillfully incorporating all required elements while demonstrating strong storytelling, creativity, and technical skill. Their selection for this competitive festival is a testament to their hard work and talent, and a proud moment for the IB Film program.
