A group of enthusiastic High School French Club students recently enjoyed an unforgettable educational trip to Manhattan, where language learning, global awareness, and festive fun came together in a single remarkable day.
The day began with a visit to the United Nations headquarters, an especially meaningful destination for students of the French language. As one of the official languages of the United Nations, French plays a vital role in diplomacy and international cooperation. Touring the iconic building, students learned about global issues, international dialogue, and the importance of multilingual communication in fostering peace and understanding among nations.
After their visit to the United Nations, the group continued to Rockefeller Plaza. There, they admired the famous Christmas tree glittering with lights, fully embracing the magic of the holiday season in New York City. In a spontaneous moment of joy, the students joined a Salvation Army worker in an impromptu song and dance, drawing smiles and laughter from passersby and creating a memory that perfectly captured the spirit of the season.
In the afternoon, the French Club headed to Le Rivage, a family-owned French restaurant in Manhattan, where they enjoyed a traditional French lunch. Students delighted in authentic cuisine and practiced their French cultural knowledge while savoring dishes reminiscent of those found in France. The meal provided a relaxed and enjoyable setting for students to bond and appreciate the cultural traditions connected to the language they study.
This enriching trip brought French language and culture to life, fostered global awareness, and strengthened friendships among students. The French Club’s visit to Manhattan was a perfect blend of education, culture, and holiday cheer—an experience they will remember long after the season’s lights have faded.
