On December 5th, the German Club introduced a thrilling twist to the usual festivities by bringing the folklore figure Krampus to life with their creative Krampus Grams! On St. Nicholas Day, students and teachers were treated to a surprise visit from Krampus himself, adding a unique and exciting element to the celebrations.
Krampus, a character from German folklore known for his spooky appearance, is said to accompany St. Nicholas during the holiday season. While St. Nicholas rewards well-behaved children, Krampus is known for his mischievous ways. This year, the German Club decided to share this tradition with the school by offering Krampus Grams, where students could send a visit from Krampus to their friends or teachers throughout the day.
As Krampus made his dramatic entrances, he delivered candy and a playful message: "Warst du böse oder brav?" which translates to "Were you naughty or nice?" The recipients were both surprised and delighted by Krampus's presence, as he brought a mix of fright and festivity to the school day.
The German Club organized this event to celebrate St. Nicholas Day with a creative flair and to introduce an important part of German and Austrian holiday traditions to the school community. By combining a bit of fright with festive treats, the Krampus Grams created a memorable experience that students and teachers will surely remember!
Overall, the Krampusgrams were a huge success, bringing laughter, joy, and a touch of German culture to the holiday season. The German Club hopes to continue this tradition in the coming years, spreading more holiday cheer and cultural awareness throughout the school!
The German Club would like to thank everyone that participated in making this holiday tradition come to life.
