LIU White House

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Hauppauge High School students enrolled in the Long Island History course, along with members of the History Club, visited The White House Experience and the Museum of Democracy at Long Island University.

Students explored a full-scale replica of the White House, complete with an Oval Office, Situation Room, and Press Briefing Room. They stepped into the roles of the President, Vice President, Cabinet members, and Press Corps as they navigated a historical “crisis.” The White House Situation Room Experience at LIU is one of only four such immersive simulations in the United States.

Throughout the simulation, students examined artifacts and primary sources while assuming the responsibilities of White House decision-makers. After successfully resolving the crisis, they toured the Museum of Democracy, viewing hundreds of artifacts from presidential history and U.S. elections—from George Washington to the present day.

This hands-on experience offered students a rich and meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of United States history and government. By stepping into real-world leadership roles, they strengthened their civic awareness and sharpened essential academic skills.
