The Hauppauge High School community shared in a truly joyful moment on Monday, December 1, as senior Ava Iaboni received a surprise announcement that she had been accepted to Sacred Heart University through Early Decision.
Believing she had been called to the Counseling Center for a routine appointment, Ava walked in to find a team from Sacred Heart University ready to deliver the exciting news in person. The university reached out to the district to help coordinate this unforgettable moment—one that quickly became a cherished family celebration.
Ava’s parents, her older sister (a proud Sacred Heart alumna), and her younger sister were all there to cheer her on as she opened her acceptance letter. Joining them to represent the school district were Superintendent Dr. Donald Murphy, High School Principal Mr. Joseph Wieckhorst, School Counselor Ms. Heather Hiotis, and Director of Guidance Mr. Gary Campanelli.
A representative from Sacred Heart University presented Ava with her official acceptance package along with a special embroidered backpack—symbolic of her upcoming journey as a Sacred Heart Pioneer.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ava and her family on this tremendous milestone. The Hauppauge community is incredibly proud, and we can’t wait to see all she will accomplish at Sacred Heart University and beyond.
