High school and middle school teachers stepped up to the November “Teaching with Tech” Challenge focused on a key skill for the classroom: Student Use of AI. The Digital Learning Department tasked teachers to use a digital tool to facilitate student use of AI in at least two separate lessons or activities during the month of October. Teachers used tools such as Brisk Boost, School AI and Google Gemini to complete this challenge.
Once they implemented their lessons, teachers were asked to reflect on the process. Teachers were pleasantly surprised by the improvement of recall and participation when it came time to share out. Teachers were also surprised by how easy it was to create the assignments and how well the students did working with the AI. Students received great lessons from our teachers about how to properly prompt the AI and how to think critically about the responses they receive.
For completing this month’s challenge, teachers were awarded a token made by our High School Librarian, Jen Shapiro, to show off their accomplishments!
