On October 22, a group of Hauppauge High School freshmen and sophomores proudly represented their school at the Town of Islip’s Unity Ambassador Program, held at Islip Town Hall. The event brought together students from across the township to participate in interactive sessions designed to promote understanding, inclusion, and unity within their schools and communities.
Hauppauge students joined peers from Connetquot, Central Islip, Bayport-Blue Point, Bay Shore, West Islip, and East Islip High Schools for a powerful day of learning and collaboration. Participants attended impactful presentations on hate crimes and community awareness, heard firsthand experiences from a Holocaust survivor, and took part in team-building activities that encouraged empathy and cooperation across districts.
Each student also made a personal pledge to foster respect, connection, and unity within their own school community.
Hauppauge’s Unity Ambassadors concluded the day by beginning to plan a school-wide unity project aimed at strengthening relationships and promoting inclusivity at Hauppauge High School. The group is also looking forward to hosting the March gathering of Islip Township schools as part of this ongoing initiative.
The Hauppauge School District is proud of these students for representing their school community with compassion, leadership, and a shared commitment to building a more united future.
