Celebrating Language Excellence: 27 Hauppauge Students Earn NYS Seal of Biliteracy

Hauppauge High School proudly recognized 27 outstanding seniors at the New York State Seal of Biliteracy awards breakfast, celebrating their exceptional achievement in attaining proficiency in two or more languages. Surrounded by family, educators and community members, these students were honored for demonstrating high levels of fluency in English and at least one additional language.

In her opening remarks, Director of Social Studies and World Languages Mrs. Kelly Barry expressed heartfelt congratulations, “Your commitment and appreciation of language and culture, and your persistence through every stage of this process have brought you here today.”

Seal of Biliteracy Coordinator Danielle Cardi also offered praise, noting the remarkable dedication of this year’s recipients, “Your achievement is not just a personal triumph, but a contribution to a more connected and understanding world. As you move forward, remember that your language skills are a powerful tool for positive change.”

This year’s recipients represent an impressive range of linguistic talents:

• Spanish: 15 students

• German: 4 students

• French: 4 students

• Creole: 4 students

• Russian: 1 student

• Telugu: 1 student

• Polish: 1 student

• Lithuanian: 1 student

• Portuguese: 1 student

• Nepali: 1 student

Notably, six students earned the Seal in two world languages, and three English language learners achieved this prestigious recognition.
