Forest Brook Cookbook

Forest Brook Elementary School’s Site-Based Team launched a unique and collaborative initiative last year with the creation of a community cookbook—bringing together students, families, and staff in a meaningful and creative way.

The cookbook featured favorite recipes submitted by a wide range of contributors, including parents, teachers, staff members, students, Mr. Caulin, Dr. Reingold, and Dr. Murphy. Adding to the excitement, fourth and fifth grade students were invited to design the cookbook’s cover, with Aubrey Weiner’s artwork selected as the winning design.

Beyond celebrating the shared talents of the Forest Brook community, the project also made a lasting impact. Funds raised through cookbook sales were used during the current school year to purchase games for indoor recess. To best support students of all ages, separate carts were thoughtfully organized for grades K–2 and 3–5.

Thanks to this collective effort, indoor recess has become even more engaging and enjoyable, with students eagerly making use of the new games.
