Suffolk County Farm

Just a few days later, on November 24, Forest Brook’s second graders stepped back into the 1800s during their visit to the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank. Students experienced what daily life was like for a colonial child through a series of hands-on activities.

Throughout the day, they churned butter, hand-dipped candles, made tin luminaries, milked a pretend cow, and even brushed a pony. Each activity helped them understand how children their age contributed to family life centuries ago.

It was a meaningful and memorable day—and a wonderful chance for our second-grade family to learn and grow together.
