Hauppauge has proudly honored longtime soccer coaching legend John “Ruff” Ruffini at the 21st Annual Hauppauge Soccer Alumni Game.
On Saturday, November 29th, soccer alums spanning more than 40 years returned home for this special tradition—and to witness a milestone moment. As part of the festivities, the Varsity Soccer Field was officially named in honor of Coach Ruffini, a well-deserved tribute to a titan of Hauppauge athletics.
Coach Ruffini spent 33 years on the sidelines, leading with heart, grit, and unmatched dedication, and amassing an incredible 362 career wins. He was joined by Dr. Murphy, Mr. Tasman, family, friends, and alumni who traveled from across the country to celebrate his remarkable career.
As current coach Jamie Edson shared:
“Because of Coach Ruffini, soccer has been more than a sport—it’s been a classroom, a place where young people learn who they are and who they can become… Today, we celebrate not only a career but a legacy.”
Congratulations, Coach Ruffini, on this extraordinary and well-earned honor.
Carpe Diem.
