During the first week of November, students in Ms. Martelli’s 4th grade class worked in groups as part of their MyView reading unit to explore informational texts focused on wildfires, life in outer space, and natural camouflage. After reading, students used a SchoolAI Sidekick link provided in Google Classroom, tailored to the topic of their book.
The Sidekick prompted students with thoughtful questions such as, “What was it like to live in outer space?”, “Why might it have been hard to sleep in space?”, and “How do humans use camouflage like animals do?” As students responded, the AI continued to build on their answers with new questions, helping them deepen their understanding and think critically about the concepts they had read.
Once they completed the activity, students returned to their groups to share what they learned, strengthening comprehension and expanding their knowledge through collaborative discussion.
