Bretton Woods Elementary School students got moving last week during the school’s annual Straw Walk, a fun tradition led by the Physical Education staff that encourages fitness, wellness and family involvement.
During their P.E. classes, students walked, jogged or ran laps around the gym and fields, earning one straw for every quarter mile completed. With a goal of staying active throughout the class period, students worked to collect as many straws as possible, with each class’s totals tallied at the end of the week.
The event also welcomed family members to join their children during scheduled P.E. classes. Parents and guardians had the opportunity to walk alongside their students, reinforcing the importance of making physical activity a part of everyday life.
More than a chance to get moving, the Straw Walk brought students, staff and families together around a shared goal of healthy habits and active fun. Thank you to the Bretton Woods Physical Education team for organizing another successful year of this beloved school tradition!
