Hometown Heroes Speaker Series Episode 5

We are proud to share Episode 5, the final installment of our inaugural Hometown Heroes: Speaker Series, featuring veterans and first responders who help strengthen the Hauppauge community.

In this episode, we are honored to welcome three distinguished guests whose lives reflect a deep commitment to service across generations: Mr. Harold Walter Pickwick, Captain David Harold Pickwick, and Detective Damie Danseglio.

Mr. Harold Pickwick, a United States Army veteran, was drafted during the Vietnam War in 1969. After completing his training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and Fort Knox, Kentucky, he served overseas in Germany with the 2nd Battalion, 4th Cavalry in the 4th Armored Division. Following his military service, he returned home and built a career with the United States Postal Service while dedicating himself to his family and community.

Joining him is his son, Captain David Pickwick of the Fire Department of New York. Captain Pickwick began his career in public service as a volunteer firefighter and EMT before joining the FDNY in 2001. Through years of dedication and leadership, he was promoted to lieutenant in 2014 and most recently to captain, continuing a proud family legacy of service.

We are also pleased to feature Detective Damie Danseglio of the New York Police Department. A graduate of Connetquot High School and the University of Detroit Mercy, Detective Danseglio has served in the NYPD for the past seven years. He began his career as a patrol officer in Queens and now serves as an investigator with Queens North Narcotics, where he works on complex cases. He was promoted to detective in August 2024 and has supported major citywide events, including New Year’s Eve in Times Square and the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting.

Through their conversation with Dr. Murphy, our guests reflect on their journeys in public service and share valuable insights on leadership, perseverance, and the importance of giving back.

We invite our community to watch this final installment of Hometown Heroes: Speaker Series and hear these powerful stories of service and dedication.
