On Monday, March 2, Bretton Woods Elementary School launched its PARP celebration with a very special visitor: Hauppauge alum and Athletic Hall of Famer Nick Fanti. Fanti served as a mystery reader, sharing the inspiring book If You Choose to Believe Them by Angela O’Hoppe with students.
The story follows a young boy who defies the odds to achieve his biggest dream. It was written about one of Fanti’s friends, Logan O’Hoppe — and both Fanti and O’Hoppe were drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015.
Students at Bretton Woods found the story motivating and enjoyed connecting baseball with reading. Fanti emphasized that practice, perseverance, and believing in yourself are essential for success, both on and off the field.
