Members of the Math Honor Society recently visited Bretton Woods Elementary School to collaborate with Math Enrichment students in an engaging and interactive lesson. During the visit, the students led a strategic activity known as The Game of Greed, a game that challenged participants to use mental math while making thoughtful decisions.
As the game unfolded, Bretton Woods students were encouraged to weigh risk versus reward—deciding whether to push their luck and be “greedy” or play it safe and protect their totals. The activity blended problem-solving, strategy, and a bit of luck, keeping students actively involved and excited about math.
The Math Honor Society members enjoyed working alongside the Enrichment students and shared their enthusiasm for showing that math can be both challenging and fun. The collaborative experience highlighted the value of peer mentorship and positive academic role models.
This visit was overseen by Kathleen Maiorini, high school math teacher and advisor of the Math Honor Society, along with Bretton Woods teachers Christine Capone and Dana Driscoll, who helped facilitate this meaningful and engaging learning opportunity.
