Forensics Club Capone

On Wednesday, November 5, Miss Capone and the students of the Bretton Woods Forensics Club were honored to host Sheryl McCollum.

A true veteran in the field, Sheryl "Mac" McCollum is a three-time Emmy Award-nominated crime scene investigator from CSI Atlanta, an inductee into the National Law Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame, and the host of the award-winning podcast Zone 7. She currently serves as a working CSI for a metro Atlanta Police Department, a writer for CrimeOnLine, and a forensic expert for Crime Stories with Nancy Grace.

Beyond her active case work, McCollum is a leading figure in forensic education and research. She is the Founder and Director of the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute (CCIRI), a non-profit established in 2004. CCIRI has built a nationwide volunteer network of 27 colleges, 600 forensic professionals, and thousands of students who collaborate to assist families and law enforcement on unsolved homicides, missing persons, and kidnapping cases.

Her distinguished career began in Atlanta conducting critical work as the coordinator for the Crisis Response Team following the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing. Additionally, she directs the Wildlife CSI Academy and serves as the U.S. Ambassador for the Wildlife Forensic Academy in South Africa.
