On October 28, we proudly celebrated our incredible 5th-grade students who participated in the TCS goIT App Design Contest, held at the TCS NYC Marathon Pavilion in Central Park and virtually.
As part of this exciting STEM challenge, students designed, coded, and pitched their own original apps before a panel of judges and a packed audience. This year’s competition centered on United Nations Sustainability Goal #3 – Good Health and Well-Being, encouraging students to use technology to promote physical and emotional wellness.
We were thrilled to have four outstanding teams proudly represent our school:
Don’t Be Dangerous
Lucas DeLorenzo, Greyson Breier, Anthony Guerne, Matthew Mosad, Colin Parchen, Mason Gallarello
Their app helps users stay informed about air and water quality and educates them about local diseases in their area.
Health Journey
James Williams, Gianmarco Caravello, Karma Patel, Natalie Paniccia, Daniela Tarazi
This app promotes healthy living by encouraging screen-time balance, offering calming games, and including a food scanner and recipe feature for nutritious choices.
Survive and Thrive
Isabelle Redmond, Thanusha Mahesh, Katelyn Ormond, Gabriella Alvarado, Ava Price
Focusing on mental health and mood awareness, this app suggests activities based on users’ emotions and recommends healthier food options to support overall well-being.
Healthy Sprinters (Virtual Team)
Emmanuel Gurdian, Amira Madenova, Madilyn Naclerio, Jake Nola, Jack Williamson, Onya-Michelle Johnson
Their app highlights how physical activity—especially running—can improve emotional well-being and help users maintain a positive mindset.
Each team impressed the judges with their creativity, teamwork, and confidence, earning medals for their innovation and problem-solving skills.
A special congratulations goes to Don’t Be Dangerous, who were named contest winners! The team earned the incredible honor of holding the finish line tape for the Wheelchair Division at the TCS NYC Marathon on Sunday, November 2.
We are so proud of all our young innovators for using technology to inspire health, happiness, and positive change in the world.
