Our Bretton Wood students were welcomed back to school with a vibrant and inspiring assembly titled “Music – The Language Around the World.” The program, led by storyteller and performer Lou Del Bianco, combined storytelling, theater, and music to create an exciting, interactive, exploration of global traditions.
Students were invited on stage to help act out stories drawn from cultures across the globe. Through folktales, fairytales, and fables, children discovered that stories not only entertain but also teach powerful lessons about respect and understanding.
The program encouraged students to:
Learn and perform the engaging “Around the World” song.
Explore folktales, fairytales, and fables using call-and-response hand signals.
Participate in dramatizations of cultural stories.
Reflect on the lessons and morals within each tale.
Recognize that by reading stories from around the world, we learn about others—and about ourselves.
Celebrate our differences as a way to build respect and understanding among one another.
The assembly was filled with energy, laughter, and important lessons. By connecting music, storytelling, and performance, students began the year with a meaningful reminder: through our differences, we celebrate each other—and through stories, we learn to better understand the world and ourselves.
