Hauppauge High School is proud to celebrate seniors Jace Cardamone, Nathan Fernandes, Akhil Grandhi, Medha Rao and Ethan Rivera, who have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
These five students are being recognized for their outstanding academic performance and exceptional promise. Commended Students represent a select group of high-achieving seniors who have demonstrated strong academic potential through the National Merit Scholarship Program’s rigorous selection process. Approximately 34,000 students nationwide are being recognized as Commended Students for their exceptional academic promise. These students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Established in 1955 by the nonprofit National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students across the country for exceptional academic achievement and encourages them to pursue continued success in their education.
Being named a Commended Student is a significant accomplishment and reflects the hard work, dedication and academic ability each of these students has demonstrated throughout their high school careers.
