National Merit Success

Hauppauge High School senior Katherine Marietta has been named a Semifinalist in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. This recognition is based on her outstanding PSAT performance as a junior.

Out of the 1.3 million students who took the PSAT last fall, only 16,000 were named Semifinalists, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors. Katherine will now continue in the competition for the opportunity to become a Finalist and ultimately a National Merit Scholarship winner. Next spring, about 6,930 scholarships worth nearly $26 million will be awarded. Finalists will be announced in February.

In addition, we proudly congratulate Pranav Vijayababu and Jacob Wolmetz on being named Commended Students in the program. About 34,000 Commended Students nationwide are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. While they will not advance in the 2026 competition, these students placed among the top 50,000 scorers in the nation on the 2024 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

We are so proud of Katherine, Pranav, and Jacob for their achievements and for representing Hauppauge with excellence!
