On August 28th, Hauppauge High School opened its doors to warmly welcome the Class of 2029 for Freshman Orientation Day.
As students took their first steps into what will become their home for the next four years, they were greeted by the student-leaders of the Ignition Club. Made up of sophomores, juniors, and seniors, these leaders guided small groups of freshmen through the building, sharing their own stories, answering questions, and offering the kind of insider advice only upperclassmen can give. From tips about finding classrooms to encouragement about getting involved, their mission was simple: to help every freshman feel welcomed and supported.
That spirit of mentorship doesn’t end with orientation. The Ignition Club will continue meeting monthly, serving as a friendly support system as freshmen adjust to high school life.
Along with learning their way around campus, each student also received their official school ID badge, a small but meaningful symbol of their official start as Hauppauge High School Eagles.
