Below are some of the most anticipated questions regarding the Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program.
Is the UPK program under the supervision of the Hauppauge School District?
The Hauppauge School District has partnered with SCOPE to organize and lead our UPK
Program.
What is Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK)?
UPK is a free preschool experience made possible through grants from the New York State
Education Department (NYSED). As long as the funding remains available and the District has
the human resources and classroom space available, the District can offer the program.
Is the UPK program free?
Yes. The grant pays for the cost of tuition for students. The family pays no fees.
Does the program follow the district calendar?
As UPK students, children are considered new entrants to the Hauppauge School District and
must attend the program five days a week for the entire school year. The program will
follow the school district calendar.
Where will the program be located?
The program will be held in each of the three elementary schools with start and end times as
follows:
Forest Brook: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Bretton Woods: 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
