HIGH SCHOOL HONORS THE "CLASS OF 2021" BY DEDICATING TREE

HAUPPAUGE HIGH SCHOOL HONORS THE "CLASS OF 2021" WITH TREE DEDICATION

High School Principal, Joseph Wieckhorst, conducted a "Legacy Tree Ceremony" to dedicate a Magnolia tree on behalf of the
Class of 2021.  The tree was purchased by the Hauppauge Educational Foundation.

Mr. Fred Pitrelli, President of the Hauppauge Educational Foundation, acknowledged that the Class of 2021 endured hardships that were unprecedented for any other Hauppauge graduating class, including remote learning and braving a Covid-19 pandemic.  He presented a special plaque that will be attached to the tree area.

Mr. Wieckhorst said that the Shared Decision Making Committee at the high school wanted to find a way to honor the Class of 2021 and thought that planting a tree in their honor would be a thank you to them and show them that they are always here at Hauppauge HS.

High school Class of 2021 student, Jeffrey Kramer, performed the ribbon-cutting honors with a couple of his former classmates, Charles Trantum and Ryan Krozer.  Also on hand were Dr. Donald B. Murphy, Superintendent; Gemma Salvia, Board of Education Member; LaYoung Trantum, HEF; HS Assistant Principals, Joy Ferrara, Kristy Pagliari, and Andrea Darbee; Julia Misciagna, HS PTA.

Special thanks to the Hauppauge Educational Foundation for making this possible.
